National University of Civil Defence of Ukraine prepares specialists for master  educational degree in the following specialties:
- 261 "Fire safety";
- 263 "Civil protection".

The purpose of the master's degree is to prepare the management personnel for the authorities and units of SES of Ukraine capable of competently and responsibly to perform the functions of managing the units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in order to ensure safety of the population from man-made and natural emergencies, territories and objects of economic activity, the introduction of technologies aimed at reducing risks of emergencies and mitigation of the consequences of emergencies and their elimination, the activation of innovation processes. Graduate students  of the Master's degree courses, during the educational process acquire theoretical training in such spheres of activity as performing scientific, research and development works for the purpose of creating new technologies in the field of civil protection, conducting of examinations, fire protection of objects of various purposes, conducting classes from professional disciplines, occupational safety and environment. Also, students of the Master's degree courses carry out independent research in designing  fire brigades, calculations, exploitation of fire-prevention facilities, as well as systematic research on organizational and managerial aspects of prevention and liqudation of emergencies.

Forms of study at the Master's degree courses - full-time and part-time.
Training of management personnel at the University in accordance with the current legislation is carried out:
• at the expense of the state budget, at the request of SES of Ukraine for work at the management departments and SES of Ukraine;
• at the expense of legal entities and individuals on a contract.

Procedure for selecting candidates and admitting to study

For studying at the Master's degree courses of NUCD of Ukraine, in specialties 261 "Fire Safety" and 263 "Civil Protection" is taken on the basis of a bachelor's degree on the basis of the results of professional entrance examinations and examinations in a foreign language. Persons who have acquired an educational qualification level of a specialist are also admitted to study for obtaining a Master's degree.
A person may enter the NUCD of Ukraine for a Master's degree on the basis of a bachelor's degree and an educational qualification level of a specialist acquired by another specialty (training direction), provided that a successful interview is conducted on subjects envisaged by the interview program for the corresponding specialty taking into account the  bachelor (specialist) diploma's average score. Enrollment for training above specified categories of persons takes place in competition according to the competition score.

On full-time form of study:

Persons of ordinary and commanding staff of the civil protection service under the age of 35 years who have obtained a bachelor's degree, an educational qualification level of a specialist assigned to a post (enrolled in a staff reserve for appointment), which will be replaced by a master's degree, and has a term of service in departments and subdivisions of the SES of Ukraine (after graduating from higher educational institutions of civil protection) at least two years.

On the part-time form of study:

Persons of ordinary and commanding personnel of the civil defense service who have obtained a bachelor's degree have a term of service in departments and units of the SES of Ukraine (after completing their studies at higher educational institutions of civil protection) for at least one year after their receipt and enrolled in the personnel reserve for appointment to higher posts (for referrals to study).
Persons of ordinary and commanding personnel of the civil protection service under the age of 40 who have obtained a bachelor's degree, an educational qualification level of a specialist assigned to a post (enrolled in a personnel reserve for appointment), which will be replaced by a master's degree, and has a term of service in departments and subdivisions of the SES of Ukraine (after graduating from higher educational institutions of civil protection) at least two years.

The Personnel Department from which the candidate for training is sent, in accordance with the established procedure, shall draw up a candidate and submit to the higher educational institution a personal file not later than one month before the beginning of the entrance examination. Documents needed:
• report on referral for education;
• personal sheet for the recording of frames with a photo of 3x4 cm;
• a medical examination card of the candidate with the conclusions of the military-medical commission;
• a copy of the diploma (graduation from the higher educational institution) with the indication of the received educational qualification level and specialty;
• conclusion-recommendation of the established sample on sending for training signed by the head of the central or territorial governing department, the department of the SES of Ukraine.
