Representative of NUCDU finished advanced international training courses.

On October 12-28, as a part of multinational delegation of representatives of Central Asian countries and Ukraine, Igor Tolkunov, Head of Department of Pyrotechnic and Special Training (Civil Protection Faculty of NUCDU), within the framework of the OSCE project "Assistance to the Government of Ukraine to Clear Territory of Eastern Ukraine" qualifications in the Republic of Tajikistan (Dushanbe).

The working visit was at the invitation of the OSCE Project Coordinator in Ukraine, the leadership of the OSCE Secretariat's Center for Conflict Prevention, the Regional Explosive Risk Training Center, and the Military Institute's Training Center of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan. The formed training group includes representatives of units performing combat missions on humanitarian demining in the Central Asian Republics: Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, as well as experts in demining of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

The main purpose of the visit of representatives of the SES of Ukraine, specialists in the field of humanitarian demining, was to gain international experience in the field of organization of the educational process and training of demining operators. Their improved knowledge and skills will be useful for preparation of higher education applicants in the educational institutions of Ukraine in specialty "Civil Protection" as educational and professional program "Engineering of Demining, Pyrotechnic and Explosive Works". In the course of the working visit, the delegation studied the experience of training specialists in the field of humanitarian demining, got acquainted with the work of humanitarian demining units of the Republic of Tajikistan, their logistical support and studied, in accordance with their duties and field of activity, experience in: organization and practice performing humanitarian clearance operations in the Republic of Tajikistan; experience developing National Standard Mine Action Procedures; organizing a non-technical and inspection system, as well as clearing areas from explosive objects and checking the quality of humanitarian demining operations; experience in organizing the educational process for training humanitarian mine specialists.
Participation in the event provided an opportunity for the teaching staff of the educational institutions to learn the experience of developing a humanitarian mine system in the Republic of Tajikistan for its use in further professional and teaching activities.

The course took place in two stages: theoretical and practical. During the training the following tasks were performed:
EOD training (Level II) was held to train humanitarian mine specialists, during which the following issues were studied:
- the content of EOD training (level II) in the field of demining and the study of the experience of building a humanitarian demining system;
- modern means of searching, neutralizing and destroying explosive objects;
- modern means of protection against explosion of explosive objects;
- tactics of demining units in accordance with IMAS International Mine Action Standards.

During the training course, delegates discussed and planned ways of further cooperation between the SES of Ukraine, the OSCE Secretariat's Conflict Prevention Center, the OSCE Project Coordinator in Ukraine, Training Center of the Military Institute of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan and other interested in demining units.

According to the results of the training, the participants successfully passed a comprehensive exam. At the end was held a solemn ceremony for the awarding of EOD training certificates (Level II) in the field of demining.
