Head of the NUCDU Department participated in a training seminar on the establishment and operation of Emergency Management Centers

On December 3-5, Andrey Lisnyak, Head of the Department of fire tactics and rescue operations of the National University of Civil Defence of Ukraine, participated in a training seminar held at the Institute of Public Administration in the field of civil protection on the establishment and operation of Emergency Management Centers with participation representatives of the US Forest Service International Programs.

The event was attended by representatives of the Operational Coordination Centers of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the State Agency of Ukraine for the Exclusion Zone Management, the Institute of Public Administration in the field of civil protection, the National University of Civil Defence of Ukraine, Cherkasy Institute of Fire Safety named after Chernobyl Heroes and Lviv State University of Life Safety life.

The purpose of the training is to promote a common understanding of Emergency Management Centers as an essential link in coordinating and supporting emergency management functions before, during and after an emergency.

During the training seminar, participants gained a common understanding of the role, responsibility, functions and standard operating procedures of the Emergency Management Centers, and developed recommendations and next steps for the development of Emergency Management Centers in Ukraine.

After the seminar, with the participation of Deputy Chairman of the SES, Ruslan Beloshitsky, Deputy Chief of the Institute (on educational and methodological work) Sergey Eremenko, representatives of the US Forest Service Shelia Slimp, Larry Sutton and Tim McSherry in the training participants responded to the training.

NUCDU' Scientists participate in International Internet Conference on Quality of Life in a Globalized World

On November 28, at the National University of Civil Defence of Ukraine was hosted the IV International Scientific and Practical Internet Conference "Modern Problems of Quality of Life in a Globalized World". Representatives of the Higher School of Management and Administration in Opole (Poland), Berdyansk State Pedagogical University (Ukraine), Donbass State Pedagogical University (Ukraine), Institute for Spatial Development Research (Ukraine), National University of Civil Defence of Ukraine (Ukraine), Central Ukrainian State Pedagogical University named after Volodymyr Vynnychenko (Ukraine). Vice-Rector for Research, Volodymyr Andronov, greeted the participants from the National University of Civil Protection of Ukraine. The experts discussed the scientific and practical problems of improving the quality of life in the context of globalization, regularities and the main tendencies of changes in various aspects of the quality of life of people through videoconferencing.

The National University of Civil Defence of Ukraine scientists took an active part in the conference. Thus, Anastasia Petrova, a student of the Faculty of Social Psychology, made a presentation "Using humor as a mechanism of psychological protection of the individual to improve the quality of life." Her supervisor is Associate Professor of the Department of Psychology of Activity in Special Conditions Julia Ilyina. The work of the conference was in the sections: “Methodological and methodological bases of studying the quality of life phenomenon: philosophical and psychological aspects; “Features of using financial and economic instruments for improving the quality of life”, “The role and place of physical culture and sport in shaping a healthy lifestyle as a basis for improving its quality”, “Spirituality and humanism as factors for enhancing personal resources and improving quality of life”, “Impact means and channels of communication for the quality of life of people ”,“ Mechanisms of legal responsibility in the conditions of globalization ”,“ Interdisciplinary approach to solving the problem of improving the quality of life in the modern world ”.

Operative fire guard unit of Educational Fire and Rescue Department of NUCDU made another alarm departure to extinguish the fire

The event took place on November 19 at: Velyka Panasivska Street, 157. The first fire guard unit of the Educational Fire and Rescue Department of the National University of Civil Protection of Ukraine at 3 p.m. 01 min under the guidance of the teacher-methodologist - the chief of unit Denis Mihailov went to the fire at the first number of the call. Private homeownership lit up at the scene. The total area of ​​the fire was 70 square meters. Fire guard Unit personnel were engaged in fire fighting, dismantling, opening and shedding of building structures. Total 4 fire departments were involved in the elimination of the fire.

Staff of the NUCDU participated in NATO's International Science for Peace and Security Program

On November 11-15 on the basis of the regional hospital named after Mechnikov in Dnipro city was hosted an international conference "Advanced technologies and counteraction to radiation, chemical and biological threats: the organization of security, response and emergency response in eastern Ukraine." The event was partnered with the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative under NATO's International Science for Peace and Security program. As experts on the event were present the staff of the Department of Special Chemistry and Chemical Technology, Faculty of Operational and Rescue Forces of the National University of Civil Defence of Ukraine - Elena Tarahno and Maxim Kustov. International trainers have conducted training in the provision of domedic assistance to victims of accidents involving the release of hazardous substances, work with the latest equipment of radiation, chemical and biological intelligence and laboratory identification, introduced new means of personal protection against aggressive environments and emergency management. Great interest was generated by the command-staff exercises on liquidation of the conditional emergency involving representatives of the State Emergency Service of the Dnipropetrovsk region, employees of the National Police, the National Guard, employees of various medical services and representatives of the Dnipro city administration. The exercises provided a lively discussion and identified problematic issues that should be addressed to improve the effectiveness of large-scale emergencies. The final stage of the conference was practical training with the involvement of forces and means of the SES, the National Police, Hospital named after Mechnikov and the International Red Cross. Rescuers practically worked out the issues of chemical intelligence, evacuation of victims, decontamination of victims and rescuers, as well as providing them with domestic care. It should be noted that most of the heads of the SES units that participated in the training are graduates of the NUCD of Ukraine, and they have demonstrated their professional skills with dignity, as evidenced by international instructors.
