Nearly 100 abstracts had been submitted to participate in the roundtable "Combining Theory and Practice - The Key to Improving the Emergency Rescue Unit's Readiness to Perform the Assignment."
The following participants confirmed their presence: LLC RPE "Захист України", Main Directorate of SES of Ukraine in Kharkiv region, Main department of SES of Ukraine in Poltava region, Institute of Scintillation Materials (ISMA) of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, AQUASILA Fire Hose Plant and others.
According to the organizers of the event, among many questions, the participants of the round table will discuss the following:
1. Assessment of the use of modern means and methods for extinguishing fires and emergency response:

    discussing the development of solid-state foam insulating agents for localization of emergencies related to toxic liquid spills;
    finding ways to increase the effectiveness of extinguishing hard-to-reach fires by using self-destructive capsules with extinguishing agents;
    discussing the development of Class B fire extinguishers based on solid useful materials;
    finding ways to increase the effectiveness of extinguishing Class A fires by using compression foam.

2. Problematic issues of organization service and vocational training in the SES of Ukraine:

    educational practice and internship of higher education applicants in garrisons of SES of Ukraine during their studies;
    organization of service in the SES of Ukraine;
    personnel training for SES of Ukraine.

3. Problematic issues of creation and use of modern fire and rescue equipment and personal protective equipment in Ukraine:

    creation and use of respiratory protective equipment in Ukraine;
    creation and use of fire hoses in Ukraine;
    new means of detecting dangerous factors;
    creation and usage of modern fire and rescue equipment in Ukraine.

The NUCDU staff member participated in an international scientific and practical conference

On October 17, at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs was hosted the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Peculiarities of Application of Anti-Corruption Legislation: From Investigation to the Sentencing of the Court", co-organized by the Public Council at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. The conference was attended by the Head of the Corruption Prevention and Detection Sector of the National University of Civil Defence of Ukraine Stanislav Sklyarov.

The event was also attended by the Chairman of the Public Association "Center for Prevention and Counteraction to Corruption", chairman of the Public Council at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Volodymyr Martynenko, member of the Board of the Corruption Prevention Department of the Corruption Prevention and Lustration Unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Sergey Yaremenko, Valery Sokurenko, Senior Adviser on Anti-Corruption of the European Union Consultative Mission to Ukraine Joseph Gulay, Coordinator of the EUMC Regional Office in Kharkiv Robert Zhulkiewski, Chairman of the Criminological Association of Ukraine, first rector of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs Oleksandr Bandurka, representatives of law enforcement agencies, institutions of higher education of Ukraine and foreign countries.

At the meeting, it was pointed out that the scientific study of corruption as a negative social phenomenon, its crisis nature, as well as its place in the mechanism of criminal activity and counteraction measures is a pressing issue for Ukrainian society.

Volodymyr Martynenko, head of the Public Council at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, and chairman of the Public Association "Center for Prevention and Combating Corruption" noticed that the this event is extremely important, since the intensification of the search for ways to improve the interaction between the law enforcement agencies of Ukraine and justice bodies become more and more urgent.

Robert Zulkiewski, Coordinator of the EUMC Regional Office in Kharkiv, in his speech referred to the experience of Poland, which also went through the difficult way of fighting against corruption, noting that, first of all, it is necessary to change the mentality of citizens. This is the main guarantee of the result.

Participants of the conference assessed the corruption risks and identified the peculiarities of the functioning of the system of preventing and counteracting the corruption in the activities of their units and institutions. The lively debate drew attention to the important role played by civil society and the media in preventing and counteracting the corruption.

Vice-Rector for Research and scientists of NUCDU participated in the international conference

On October 15-16, 2019, at Kharkiv National University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, the IX International Scientific Conference "Resource and Safety of Structures, Buildings and Structures Operation" was held. Conference was attended by scientists from different corners of Ukraine and abroad. Representatives of National University of Civil Defence of Ukraine participated in the conference. Vice-rector for scientific work Volodymyr Andronov, scientific and pedagogical staff of Department of fire prevention in settlements Stella Gornostal and Elena Petuhova and Sergey Shcherbak from Department of fire tactics and rescue operations. They took an active part in the section "Modern Technologies and Structures that Increase Residual Resource of Water Supply and Drainage Facilities", where they presented:

«Software Complex for Management of Work of Biological Wastewater Treatment Facilities» (Dr.Sci.Tech., Prof. Volodymyr Andronov, Ph.D (Technical Sciences) Stella Gornostal);

"Improving the safety of building operations through the use of internal fire-fighting water supply system" (Dr.Sci.Tech., Senior Research Associate. Olexander Tarasenko, Ph.D (Technical Sciences), Assoc. Olena Petuhova, Ph.D. Sergey Shcherbak).

The materials presented in the reports aroused interest and active discussion.

 

On October, 19 at the National University of Civil Defence of Ukraine will be held Open Doors Day

The Open Doors Day will be held at the National University of Civil Defence of Ukraine on October, 19 from 10 AM to 3 PM.

Program of the event:

10.00-10.40 - guest registration, acquaintance with achievements of departments of faculties, research laboratories (will be held in the main building of the University, consultative centers will operate there as well);

10.40-11.30 - a meeting of future entrants with the management of higher education institution (will be held at the club of the University);

11.30-12.30 - transfer to the University's territory at Bavarska str, 7;

12.30-13.30 - getting acquainted with the educational and material base of the University at Bavarska street;

13.30-14.30 - specialists, cadets and students of the institution will hold demonstration exercises: practice the mine clearance of explosive objects; self-repair from the 4th floor of the training tower and evacuation of victims from high-rise buildings; transportation of the victims in conditions of difficult relief and during overcoming of water obstacles; organization of operative actions of fire and rescue units during the liquidation of a chemical accident; and will also demonstrate the operation of the smoke protection service link in the smoke zone.

Guests of the event will have an opportunity to get acquainted with the emergency rescue equipment in action.
