Senior Administration Composition and staff of NUCDU participated in the opening of the monument to the defenders of Ukraine
On October 14, on the Day of the Defender of Ukraine, at the Square of the Defenders of Ukraine, was held opening of the monument to the defenders of Ukraine. The event was attended by the Head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration Yuliya Svitlychna, the Head of the Kharkiv Regional Council Sergiy Chernov, representatives of the Kharkiv City Council leadership, Ukrainian military, ATO and OJF veterans, families of the fallen heroes, volunteers and members of the public. The solemn ceremony was attended by the rector of the National University of Civil Defence of Ukraine Volodymyr Sadkovyi and the Vice-rector for staff Andriy Titarenko.
The main element of the monument is the cube, the strongest geometric figure. It symbolizes Ukraine - a holistic and powerful state that has suffered grievous losses - and that part of the cube that is missing is telling us about those losses. These are lost lives and temporarily lost territories. But these parts still remained close and were put on the ground in the form of 14 metal ceilings. This number represents 2014 when the ATO began. There are no names of the dead on the monument. However, on the iron columns there is a text - lines of Volodymyr Sosyura's work "Love Ukraine", and on the cube - the inscription "Heroes do not die!".
The attendees laid flowers at the monument to the defenders of Ukraine.
